WEC™ Worldwide — One Identity, One Mission, One Global Wound Care Network
WEC: Easy to Remember. Easy to Pronounce. Easy to Refer.
One acronym. Many countries. One common standard of wound care.
WEC stands for Wound Expertise Center, an international identity designed to connect wound care professionals, healthcare facilities, educators, and patients through a recognizable global network.
Our vision is simple: Wherever you are in the world, when you see WEC, you recognize a center dedicated to professional wound care, education, timely referral, and continuity of care.
A Global Name with a Local Identity
Every country may adopt the WEC name and adapt its full meaning to the local language, provided that the name clearly identifies the facility as a Wound Care Center, Wound Expertise Center, or an equivalent specialized wound care facility.
The acronym WEC must remain unchanged to preserve international recognition.
For example:
Country
Local WEC Identity
🇧🇪 Belgium
WEC – Wondexpertisecentrum
🇬🇧 United Kingdom
WEC – Wound Expertise Center
🇫🇷 France
WEC – Wound Expertise & Cicatrisation
🇩🇪 Germany
WEC – Wundexpertisezentrum
🇰🇪 Kenya
WEC – Wound Expertise Centre
🇵🇭 Philippines
WEC – Wound Expertise Center
🇪🇸 Spain
WEC – (WEC)Centro de Excelencia en Heridas y Cicatrización.
The local translation may vary, so add (WEC) so that the international acronym WEC remains consistent.
A Recognizable Symbol with National Colors
Each WEC center may incorporate the colors of its country's national flag into its local WEC logo or visual identity.
The global WEC identity should include:
WEC as the dominant, internationally recognizable acronym.
A consistent wound care symbol representing healing, protection, and professional care.
The national flag colors to represent the country where the center operates.
The local wound care center name or translation.
The designation Neudebri® Certified Partner, only when the center has successfully completed the required training, competency assessment, and certification.
This creates a unified international identity while respecting each country's cultural and linguistic diversity.
One Identity, Shared Professional Principles
The WEC name is more than a sign on a building. It represents a commitment to quality, professional competence, and patient safety.
Certified WEC partners are expected to implement the Neudebri® wound care principles and applicable CARE-FIT-R™ protocols, emphasizing appropriate wound-bed preparation, debridement, exudate management, patient education, follow-up, and timely referral.
Timely referral is one of the most important responsibilities in wound care.
Delayed referral, inadequate wound-bed preparation, and uncontrolled exudate can contribute to preventable complications, prolonged treatment, and potentially limb-threatening deterioration.
A WEC network aims to help healthcare professionals and patients identify an appropriate referral destination without unnecessary delays.
WEC: A Global Language for Wound Care
Imagine a patient traveling from Belgium to Kenya, the Philippines, or another country and immediately recognizing the WEC identity.
The language may change. The flag colors may change. The healthcare system may differ.
But the WEC identity and its commitment to professional wound care remain recognizable.
Through international training, competency assessment, collaboration, and referral pathways, WEC aims to establish a connected community of wound care centers working toward better patient outcomes.
